Baked Apple Pudding
This is a simple to make dessert with a delicious, sophisticated taste. You can peel your apples for this recipe if you wish. We chose not to. Any sweet/tart apple will do here, and pears would also work very well. This recipe is easy to convert to gluten and dairy free, and we’ve included our substitutions.
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Melt butter in a 2 quart casserole dish. (We just popped it into the microwave. Don’t do this if you have a metal pan! Either put the pan in the oven to heat it up, or microwave the butter in a bowl and pour it in.)
- Combine sugar, flours, salt, spices, baking powder, milk and egg to make a batter.
- Pour the batter overtop of the butter in the baking dish.
- Put apples in the center of the batter and just spread them out a little bit. Sprinkle with brown sugar if desired.
- Bake until the batter has covered the apples and the pudding has browned, about 35-40 minutes.
