Cheddar and Chive Drop Biscuits
A delicious addition to your spring holiday table! They can be gluten and dairy free and they are perfect paired with eggs.
2 cups all-purpose flour of gluten free flour
1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 stick of butter or dairy free butter, cut into cubes
2/3 cup buttermilk or dairy free buttermilk (make your own)
1 cup shredded cheddar or dairy free cheddar
3 tablespoons freshly snipped chives
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silpat and set aside.
Whisk the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
Use a pastry cutter to cut cold butter into flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal. Add in the buttermilk, egg, chives and cheese and stir just until the ingredients are combined. The dough will be sticky.
Scoop out the biscuit dough onto the prepared baking sheet or skillet.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
